CUTTACK: Panic spread across villages of 42 Mouza under Cuttack Sadar police limits on Sunday when alleged Maoist leaflets were found strewn across several of them.In the leaflets, the Maoists allegedly threatened to launch strikes on the brick kilns as well as the local police. The police were, however, quick to dismiss them as an act of mischief-mongers and said that the form and tone of the content could not be of the Left wing ultras. “The leaflets have been deliberately thrown across by miscreants. The language is most foul and abusive which has given the game up. We are looking for the elements,” DCP AN Sinha said.According to reports, the leaflets emerged at around four or five villages, including that of Bartunia, Tohigaon, Raoutarapur and Badadahipur in the morning. The leaflets issued by one Lal Bahini were in the shape of computer printouts and threatened the brick kiln owners of dire consequences. Abusing them in the most offensive language, the miscreants threatened to blast the kilns. The leaflets also accused the police of giving protection to the brick kiln mafia and warned of bombing the local outpost as well as the police outpost. The leaflets have been seized by the police. Investigations are on into the case, Sadar police said.
