VIJAYAWADA: A large number of school students, women, activists and others thronged the protest camp near the Victoria Jubilee Museum here on Saturday to express their support to the day-long Sakala Janula Nirahara Deeksha (hunger strike) launched by the Mahila Sanghala Samakhya demanding that the killers of Palagani Naga Vaishnavi be punished.The 10-year-old girl was kidnapped, allegedly by her close relatives, on January 30 last year when she was going in a car to her school and brutally killed.The body was found in an iron boiler two days later.The driver, who tried to rescue her at the time of the kidnap, was also murdered ruthlessly.The girl’s father, P Prabhakar, died of heart attack soon after the incident.“The way the girl was killed is really something that should not happen to anyone.We, as human beings, cannot understand the kind of pains the little girl had suffered when she was thrown into an iron boiler.We cannot even imagine such kind of cruel ways of murdering an innocent schoolgirl,’’ opined schoolkids who participated in the hunger strike.
