Melbourne: Dewan Asgar Nabi, a masseur with India's Commonwealth Games team, on Friday vowed to fight allegations that he indecently assaulted a teenage girl in the Games village.

Police allege that the 35-year old Nabi assaulted a 16-year-old volunteer in his room at the village used to house athletes and officials of the 71 nations competing at the XVIII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

He was charged with one count of unlawful assault and one of indecent assault on Tuesday and appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates Court for the second time 0on Friday.

His lawyer Tom Danos told the court his client was a married man with a young child and he was anxious to return to India as soon as possible.

He said Nabi would contest the charges.

"His great concern is that he is here only for the period of the Games, or had intended to be here for the period of the Games," Danos said.

"He is anxious and keen for the matter to be heard as quickly as possible."

He added that Nabi had moved out of the village and was now living in a private residence.

Nabi's bail was extended and the matter adjourned until April.

Police earlier said Nabi's passport had been confiscated.
