CHIKMAGALUR: District in-charge minister S Suresh Kumar said that a meeting of high-ranked officials, including the deputy commissioner, would be convened in Bangalore next Monday on the drought-like situation prevailing in some hoblis of Kadur taluk. He said that this would be done before submitting information to the chief minister for recommending the districts as drought-hit.Speaking to reporters after visiting the villages affected by rain scarcity in Singatagere and Yagati hoblis on Wednesday, he said that the decision was based after considering factors such as consecutive dry spells, damage to 80 per cent of crops.“I spoke to the DC this afternoon. Kadur MLA Dr Y C Vishwanath had apprised the during his visit here last week on the grave situation in the taluk due to shortage of rains. The DC was directed by the CM to submit a detailed report on solution to tackle the situation,” he added. Accordingly, the DC had submitted the report on Saturday. “There are divergent opinions on crop loss in two hoblis in the district. A decision will be taken at a meeting in Bangalore,” he said.
