New Delhi: India has been eyeing the most coveted beauty pageant since a decade now and this time around it’s Shilpa Singh, a software engineer by profession, who is planning to make India proud at Miss Universe 2012 pageant. With just a month left for the beauties from 88 countries and territories to battle it out for the ultimate beauty pageant, our Indian beauty is also bracing herself for the grand event.
Shilpa, the winner of I Am She- Miss Universe 2012, has roped in designers Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor to design the finale costume for her which happens to be a neon pink gown.
Shilpa might be an engineer by profession but her passion has always been modelling. Hailing form a small town in Bihar, Shilpa made her way to the I Am She- Miss Universe 2012 pageant and went onto become the first runner-up at the beauty pageant. However, later the winner of the pageant, Urvashi Rautela, was dethroned due to age conflict and the title was given to Shilpa Singh.
Shilpa, who is currently preparing herself for the Miss Universe crown to be held in Las Vegas on December 19, has also walked the ramp for designer Neeta Lulla during the Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour held in Mumbai recently.
And, with Lara Dutta being crowned Miss Universe back in 2000, all hopes are pinned on this Indian beauty to bring back the crown to India after 12 years. And, there is much pressure on Shilpa Singh as the Indian beauties who have represented India at Miss Universe pageant have not been able to make it to top 16 finalists. Let’s hope that Shilpa is able to break the jinx this time around.
