Mini buses services will soon be operated to connect remote interior villagesin the Union Territory, as revealed by Chief minister N Rangasamy in the assembly on Tuesday. When the MLAs pointed out that the villagers had to walk long distances ranging kilometers from the main bus stops to reach their native villages, the Chief Minister said that the mini bus service would be operated on such routes. DMK’s A M H Nazim said that MLAs be consulted to draw a list of routes where connectivity was required.
Further more, Rangasamy said replying to OmSakthi Segar of AIADMK that the UT government was taking steps to secure post- graduate medical seats in the self-financing colleges for sponsoring under government quota. The measure is being considered to bring PG education in the private medical colleges under reservation regulation. Details of the system being followed in other states as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India would be examined and thereafter appropriate action taken, Rangasamy said.
The CM also that the government would sponsor meritorious students for IAS coaching in New Delhi and Chennai. Replying to AIADMK’s Segar, he said that the preliminary coaching for civil services was being given by PIPDIC in Puducherry. Those who qualify for the main after the preliminary would be shortlisted and sponsored by the UT government for further coaching in New Delhi and Chennai. The entire expenses for the training would be borne by the government, the CM said.
