Karnataka: The Karnataka Forest Minister's son Suryakant is in trouble.

He's been denied bail in the attempt-to-murder case.

Forest Minister Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli's son Suryakant was arrested for attempt-to-murder on Sunday night.

Suryakant had gone to a pub called 1912 for dinner on Sunday night. Police say he got into an argument and shot a bullet which ricocheted off the wall and hit one person, Ratan Kumar.

Suryakant was produced in court and has sbeen remanded to judicial custody.

Bangalore Police Commissioner, Ajai Kumar Singh says, "We've taken action as per law. Two things need to be investigated - why did the incident take place and why was the pub open so late at night. At this time we cannot say whether Suryakant acted in self-defence or aggression. Whatever the reason may be, the rule of law will prevail."

The Cubbon Park police, under whose circle the pub is located, has been issued a show-cause notice on why it didn't enforce the pub closing deadline.

Singh says that he is awaiting the Cubbon Park police station's reply. "We will see if their reply is satisfactory enough on why the place was open so late."

The State's excise law says pubs must close by 11.30 PM.

Suryakant will be in judicial custody till February 4.
