More emu birds die at Perundurai
Complaints continue to pour in from depositors

Eight more emu birds of Queen Emu Farm at Kunnathur Road, Perundurai, died on Saturday morning due to some disease.

Revenue officials camping at the spot took steps to bury the carcasses in a nearby area to check spreading of diseases to other birds.

Officials said that veterinarians of animal husbandry department visited the farm on Friday and gave treatment to the abandoned birds.

They are continuously monitoring the health conditions birds in those farms whose owners have absconded after cases were registered against them.

More complaints from Depositors

 Meanwhile, more depositors lodged complaints to the economic offences wing for the third day in succession against the emu firms.

Around 2,500 complaints have been received so far. A majority of them were against Susi Emu firm and its sister concerns.

Police said that they were also receiving complaints from depositors against other emu firms, whose owners have also gone underground.

Now, cases have been registered against Susi Emu Farm in Perundurai alone and cases on other firms would be registered later.

Meanwhile, due to closure of many emu firms in the district, the number of birds to be taken care of was increasing day by day. Perundurai taluk revenue officials said that the government has arranged supply of around 50 tonnes of feed.

 It could be supplied to all birds that have been abandoned by over 15 emu firm owners in the area.
