MP: 14 Dead, 20 Others Injured As Pick-Up Truck Overturns In Dindori

At least 14 people died and 20 others were injured after a pick-up truck overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori in the early hours of Thursday. The accident took place near Badjhar Ghat at around 1.30 am when the vehicle’s driver lost control over the wheels.

The victims had gone to Amhai Devri village to take part in a programme in the district’s Shahpura block and were returning when the accident took place. The deceased included seven men, six women and a minor boy, as per the police.

Soon after getting information about the incident, the Dindori collector and superintendent of police rushed to help the victims.

All the injured people are undergoing treatment at Shahpura Community Health Centre, according to Dindori district collector Vikas Mishra.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has expressed condolence over the tragic accident in Dindori and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the mishap victims.

The Chief Minister has also dispatched Cabinet Minister Sampatiya Uikey to Dindori to deal with the crisis.

“Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has expressed deep condolence over the untimely demise of many precious lives in a vehicle accident in Dindori district. He wishes peace to the departed souls and strength to the family members to bear this loss,” a post from MP CM’s official X handle read.

“The Chief Minister said that financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each will be provided to the families of those injured in the incident. Instructions have been given to the district administration for proper treatment of the injured,” it added.

President Murmu, PM Modi Condole Loss Of Lives

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday said the news of deaths in a road accident in Madhya Pradesh was extremely painful and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members. She also prayed for the early recovery of those injured.

“The news of many casualties in a road accident in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh is extremely painful. I express my condolences to the bereaved family members. I pray that all the people injured in this accident get well soon,” Murmu said in Hindi in a post on X.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the incident.

“The road accident in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved families. I wish speedy recovery to all the injured persons. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible assistance to the victims,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on X.

Senior Congress leader and former MP CM Kamal Nath also expressed grief over the incident.
