BALANGIR: Around 500 irate villagers on Tuesday morning ransacked the Kamsara Police Outpost and set the police jeep afire after a murder suspect, who was in police custody, escaped. The suspect allegedly had killed a 12-year-old boy and buried him.Sources said villagers started gathering outside the outpost at around 9 in the morning after the news of the suspect having fled reached them. When the body of the boy was recovered from an agricultural field, about a km from the village, the villagers went berserk and set a police jeep on fire. They also ransacked the suspect’s uncle’s house. It took the police about four hours to control the mob. Meanwhile, a forensic team was rushed to the spot and the body sent for post-mortem.The suspect, a juvenile delinquent, had come out of jail recently. He was detained as a suspect, as the victim was last seen with him. His escape has only reinforced our doubts, Tarva police station IIC Bhojaraj Pradhan said. Two teams have been pressed to nab him, he added. The police are, however, yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder. Sources said the victim’s father, a home guard, had helped in nabbing the suspect in a theft case and the latter killed his son in revenge.
