A dramatic scene unfolded in MP-MLA court in Kanpur’s Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, where Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki called himself ‘Janwar’ (animal). Solanki is one of the accused in the Jajmau arson case who expressed suspicion about a potential encounter by the UP police. While being escorted to the court under tight security, the MLA called himself an animal.
The media asked why he was calling himself an animal, he said to ask this question from the police commissioner that why he took him to the police line instead of presenting him before the judge, and whether to have an encounter.

It was anticipated that the court would deliver its judgment, however, once again the matter was postponed. The SP leader is currently incarcerated in Maharajganj jail. A retrial in the matter has been set on April 6 by Special Judge Satyendra Nath Tripathi of the MP-MLA session court.
Upon arrival media encircled him and he questioned under what circumstances he was being produced. Irfan also asked whether they were planning an attack. “What was the reason for taking me there?” asked the MLA adding why he was kept in the police line for 2 hours.
Jajmau Arson Case
The Jajmau arson case is related to a fire that started on November 7, 2022, in Nazir Fatima’s residence in the Defense Colony of Jajmau. Irfan, Rizwan, Mo. Sharif, Shaukat Ali, and Israel Aatawala are all still facing hearings. In addition to Solanki, other inmates at Kanpur prison include Rizwan, Israel Aatawala, and Shaukat Ali. Muhammad Sharif, meantime, has been freed on bond.
On March 1st, the prosecution and defense wrapped up their respective arguments. The decision was then initially scheduled for March 14, but because of unanticipated events, it was moved to March 22. The subject was then reopened for debate, and a new hearing was set for March 28. However, the judgment was postponed until April 4th owing to inadequate documents.
