Four persons, including a practising advocate, have lodged separate complaints with the Medchal police against CPI state secretary K Narayana and Telangana Jagruthi Samstha president K Kavitha for inciting the public to attack ministers hailing from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of the state.
The complainants have alleged that the duo made inflammatory statements after Minister for Minor Irrigation T G Vebkatesh’s remarks on IAS officers.
The complainants -- Gopala Krishna Reddy and R Narayana Reddy of Madhuranagar, O Reddy of Yousufguda and advocate M Srinivas of Gandhinagar -- in their complaints to the Medchal police on Sunday sought stern action against the two leaders.
They said Narayana had, on behalf of IAS officers, made a public statement with an intention to provoke the public at large to attack Congress ministers and to revolt against the ministers who are the helm of the state’s affairs.
Kavitha added fuel to the fire ignited by Narayana by stating that instead of IAS officers T G Venkatesh should be shot dead. She aimed her statements directly at Venkatesh by taking his name and Rayalaseema, Andhra Congress ministers. It was an offence that would create animosity among people residing in different regions, they said.
“The statements made by Narayana and Kavitha are highly derogative and objectionable, which incite the public to wage war against the ministers who are running the government and will amount to sedition which is a criminal offence. They must be punished for insulting the ministers who are holding Constitutional posts,” they stated.
The police, however, did not register any cases against Narayana and Kavitha. A Rami Reddy, Medchal inspector, said they would take legal opinion.
