A Naxal was arrested in the Maoist-hit Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said. Five muzzle-loading rifles were recovered from his possession.
Ghasiya (30), the head of the Chema village Janatana Sarkar group of the Maoists, was nabbed from Bayanar police station limits on Monday night, Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police Surjit Atri told PTI.
A joint group of CRPF and district police was on a combing operation when it got the tip-off and nabbed him from his native place Chema, Atri added.
Ghasiya was involved in the attack on polling team during the 2008 Assembly election and an attack on police in Golwand village in which 7 personnel were killed, among other incidents of Naxal violence, according to the police. He was carrying a reward of Rs 7,000 on his head.
