CHENNAI : More than 83 per cent of work at the Nemili desalination plant is complete and the plant is expected to be commissioned in September 2012. Municipal Administration and Rural Development minister K P Munusamy reviewed the work at the plant on Thursday and urged Metro Water officials and contractors to finish the work before Sept 2012.The Cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) had accorded approval to the project and sanctioned a grant of `871.24 crore for the project. Now the State is seeking an additional `983 crore to complete the project, the minister said.Va Tech Wabag Limited in consortium with IDE Technologies in Israel were awarded the contract to build the plant. The contract for laying drinking water pipeline and tanks were given to Larsen and Toubro.
