Nepal to crackdown on fake Indian currency rackets
Nepal promises to take strong steps to stop criminal activities against India.

Kathmandu: In the wake of reports that a fake Indian currency racket is being operated from its territory, Nepal on Wednesday said it will take strong steps to stop such criminal activities against India.

"We will take strong steps to stop fake currency racket, security threat and other criminal activities against India," Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal's Foreign Affairs Advisor Rajan Bhattarai told PTI.

Madhya Pradesh police had arrested two persons with counterfeit currency of face value Rs 11,000 from the Bhopal railway station recently.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nepal said Kathmandu will not allow any criminal activities against India from its soil.

Nepal and India had recently signed an agreement to control criminal activities along the porous Nepal-India border during the Nepalese Prime Minister's recent visit to New Delhi.

However, there is no extradition treaty in effect between Nepal and India to hand over criminals arrested from one country to the other.
