Rajesh D'souza qualified for the national round of the Rotax Go Karting championship.

New Delhi: Network 18's Rajesh D'souza is all set to blaze the track at this season's Rotax Go Karting championship, the premier kart racing series in the world that sees action at the national, international and continental level.

D'souza, who has been Go Karting for the past 12 years, qualified for the national round of the Rotax Go Karting championship after he won the corporate round of the Delhi race in the Amaron Karting Championship on January 23.

Starting fifth on the grid in the finals, D'souza stepped on the gas as he beat a field of tough competitors to emerge the champion with a fastest lap speed of 17.85 seconds.

The racer, who works with India's premier technology website Tech2, had earlier been a finalist in the Mumbai and Goa rounds of the Amaron Karting Challenge.

D'souza has impressive credentials as a Go Karting racer in the last decade having finished on the podium in the JK Tyre Go Karting Championship in 2000 and 2001, the MRF Formule Mondiale Championship in 2003, the Accelerace Go Karting Championship in 2009, the Ocean Corporate Go Karting Championship in 2009 and the Cloud 9 Go Karting Championship in 2009.

The Indian season for the Rotax Challenge comprising of six races gets underway in June.
