Beyond this, it would also be capable of providing a downloading speed up to 1 gbps to stationary users. In a tie-up with the telecommunication giant Reliance, the state government would be providing the wireless internet connectivity to the denizens before or by the end of the year. However, it is still under the discussion that the internet availability would be free of cost or not.

Jaisalmer: Jaisalmer Fort becomes first inhabited UNESCO heritage site

The Jaisalmer fort in Rajasthan has become the first inhabited site to have been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. At least 450 families still reside in the fort complex. The fort is the second monument after Jantar Mantar to have been accorded the world heritage status.

Jaipur: Delayed RU’s BA results leave students sleepless

Over a lakh of students who were pursuing BA final year at the colleges affiliated to the Rajasthan University (RU) are spending sleepless nights these days due to delay in announcing their results. While the process of admissions to the post-graduate (PG) courses has already begun, the BA students are still awaiting for their results. They are in tizzy as admissions in PG courses are about to close. According to officials of the RU’s examination branch, around 1.25 lakh BA final year students are waiting for their results. Students, particularly those seeking admissions in MA, are really in panic due to delay in announcing the BA final results by the university.

Kota: Chambal Garden to get amusement swings, toy trains

Child amusement swings and family toy trains would be operating at the famous Chambal Garden of Kota. KMC has beautification plans for Chambal Garden worth Rs 15.86 crores in which a pathway, open air theater, canteen building, marriage garden, family toy train and other works would be done. Efforts are being made to promote and establish Kota as a tourist destination for which beautification works in and around Kishore Sagar Lake and other places are being done.

Jaipur: City commuters to experience metro ride soon

The much-awaited Jaipur Metro Rail Project has got the green signal from the Railway Ministry on technical clearance for its operations in signal, telecom and electricity expansion system, official sources said on Monday. In a major development the Union Ministry of Railways has given approval to the ‘Schedule of Dimensions’ (SoD) of 9.2 km long Mansarovar-Chandpol Metro project. Now, the clearance from the safety commissioner and research designs and standard organisation (RDSO) is awaited to begin trial of metro trains on the tracks. The schedule of dimensions is a technical document detailing the minute information about the construction and design works of metro structure like stations and tracks. It also details the signal telecommunication and electrical works.

Jaipur: Owner, rider risk lives to rescue drowning elephant

An elephant rider and owner threw their lives on line to rescue an animal from drowning. An elephant named Anarkali went into deep water of Amer fort’s lake. The owner of the elephant went into deep water by a boat along with the rider. They rescued the 6 ton elephant by guiding the confused elephant to land. The female elephant gives rides to tourists in Amer Fort. On Sunday, the ‘Mahawat’ and the elephant were on week off. According to owner Arshad Ali, the elephant accidently entered the ‘Mathva’ when the Mahavat was taking it for bathing in Maha Sagar. After an elephant entered the ‘Mathva’ with tourist at its back last year, the administration had banned elephants from entering the lake. Anarkali emerged unscathed after the efforts to save her. She is fit, according to the owner.
