New Delhi: A 49-year-old Nigerian national, who was found living on expired visa, was arrested in West Delhi's Prashant Vihar district for allegedly peddling high quality cocaine, police said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Stanley Martins Uzoma, was arrested with 47 gm of high quality cocaine near PVR Cinema situated on Ring road in A-Block Park area of Prashant Vihar district on Tuesday, said police.
Acting on a tip-off, the Delhi crime branch laid a trap in the area after receiving information of Uzoma's contraband consignment to his accomplice. The officials held him as soon as he arrived and seized the narcotic from his possession, they said.
The police also learned that his visa had expired in January. Uzoma came to Mumbai on business visa in year 2009. Since then, the accused has traveled in and out of India several times. He came to the country in 2014, police added.
It was revealed during interrogation that Uzoma stayed at Nalasopara in Mumbai and was in contact with another Nigerian national drug peddler, police said.
Considering the high demand of cocaine in Delhi and Mumbai, Uzoma started peddling drugs in these two cities, informed police.
In 2013, Uzoma stayed at a rented house in Hauz Rani near Khirki Extension in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar area. In past two years, Uzoma supplied cocaine to several youngsters in South, North and other adjoining areas of Delhi.
Meanwhile, the crime branch is now on the lookout for another Nigerian drug peddler -- identified as Stevan. His name cropped up during the questioning, police said.
The accused admitted that Stevan resided in Vasant Vihar and all the dealings between them took place over phone, police said.
