Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsThe All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer V Hanumanth Rao has ruled out the possibilities of change of guard in Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in the state.Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, after a marathon meeting of the coordination committee of KPCC, the AICC observor said, “The issue had come up for discussion during the event and it was decided not to bring any change to both the posts of the CLP and KPCC.”Union ministers Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjuna Kharge, K H Muniyappa, senior leaders, including KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar, CLP leader Siddaramaiah and AICC General Secretaries Oscar Fernandes  among others participated in the meeting.The party in-charge for Karnataka Madhusudan Mistry chaired the meeting.KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar, who also spoke on the occasion said that the committee among other things has decided to confer more responsibilities to the district Congress committees regarding the selection of  party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.“The State Election Committee will only take into consideration the  names which would be suggested by respective DCCs to contest theAssembly elections,” he said. He added that Assembly elections may take place any time. According to him, the committee has directed all the party leaders to tour all the 224 assembly constituencies in  Karnataka. The dates and programmes for the tour will be decided soon.Parameshwar said that in the meeting it was also decided to consolidate the support of the minorities, and work out the strategies for the elections.He added that the party leaders have decided against having any pre-poll alliance with the JD(S) in Assembly elections. “Some members in the meeting wanted the party to give clarification on the reports over the possible electoral alliance with the JD(S),” he said.first published:January 01, 1970, 05:30 ISTlast updated:January 01, 1970, 05:30 IST
