Contradicting his colleague, incharge DGP V Dinesh Reddy on Friday said there is no specific input that suggests that Seemandhra individuals or their properties could be under attack during the Telangana March.
Two days back, DG (law and order) S A Huda had made an announcement that Seemandhra people or their businesses might be targeted by the protestors and they had intelligence to the effect.
At a press conference on Friday afternoon, before the government gave its permission to the March, Dinesh Reddy tried to assure of Seemandhra people saying that they do not need to fear.
When pointed out about Huda’s remarks, Dinesh Reddy said he was only responding to the queries of reporters and it was one of the various probabilities.
“It is a general observation of the law and order DG,’’ he said.
Dinesh Reddy said they had decided not to give the permission to the march as it coincided with Ganesh immersion procession.
“We would advice the government not to permit the march at Tank Bund as it would not be right thing to merge the two crowds at the same place.
“With our professional and technical advice, the government will heed to us,’’ he said.
“Stern action will be taken and there would be no let up from our side,” Dinesh Reddy warned.
At the same time, he appealed to the TJAC saying, “Since the proposed march would cause inconvenience to pandal organisers and devotees coming for the immersion procession. You should pos tpone the march.” Dinesh Reddy said chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has taken a serious view of the attack on the Toll Plaza on the city outskirts, and warned of stringent action against violent activities.
He said the organisers give call to agitations but they are not responsible for the participants’ safety and their activities.
He said that not only those who resort to violence but also the organisers of the march would be held responsible for any trouble.
