HYDERABAD: The teachers and other staff working in private schools across the Telangana region are having a tough time with the ongoing general strike, as their monthly salaries for September have not been paid till date.Generally, most schools pay salaries to teachers and other staff before the fifth of every month. However, this time around, most of them have not paid salaries to their teachers and other staff, with parents not paying the monthly tuition fees to the school management.A private school teacher from Suryapet in Nalgonda district said they usually get their salaries before the fifth of every month, but with parents not paying monthly tuition fees, the management is not in a position to pay their salaries for September. With many parents also joining in the Sakala Janula Samme, they have also not received their monthly salaries. Parents owning small businesses have also seen decline in their income due to the strike and hence are unable to pay the tuition fees.Another private primary school teacher from Dilsukh Nagar said the management can only force parents to pay tuition fees, if they are conducting classes regularly.“How can schools collecting fees without conducting classes?” she asked. She added that she has also not been able to pay tuition fees for her two children, as she did not get her salary. Her two children are studying in a school in LB Nagar. The teachers working in schools located in small towns have been worst-hit by the delay, as these schools usually collect much less fees than those in the state capital.Generally, high schools collect tuition fees in four instalments, three months fees at a time, whereas most primary schools collect fees every month. While some high school teachers have got 50 per cent of their salaries, primary school teachers have not got their salaries.
