Kashmiri youth have been warned by militant group Al-Madina to refrain from participating in Indian Idol.

New Delhi: Sony Entertainment Television's popular reality show Indian Idol is facing militant problems in Jammu and Kashmir.

The channel is planning a talent hunt in the Valley, but the youth in Kashmir have been warned by militant group Al-Madina to refrain from participating in the show.

Al-Madina has threatened to kill anyone who will take part in the show.

"We appeal to boys and girls of Kashmir not to participate in the talent hunt of the Sony television", an Al-Madina spokesman, Abu Sadiq, told news organisations.

He said no leniency would be shown against those who defy the ban on the show imposed by the outfit.

Encouraged by the success of Kashmiri boy Qazi Taqeer in the talent hunt show of Fame Gurukul, the television channel is organising an audition for interested boys and girls of Kashmir, a channel spokesman was quoted by PTI as saying.

The channel plans to go ahead withe the auditions despite the warning.
