TIRUMALA: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to restrict two-wheelers on the ghat road on the Garuda Seva day (October 3) in view of heavy vehicular traffic.Garuda Seva day is the important event of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams beginning September 29. It is for the first time the TTD has taken such a decision.Justifying the decision, TTD executive officer LV Subramanyam said that due to rash driving of motorcyclists, several accidents were reported on the ghat section on the Garuda Seva day in the past, which not only caused loss of life but also hampered the movement of vehicles.‘’Keeping in view the past experience and also considering the heavy pilgrim rush on Garuda Seva day, we have decided to restrict the movement of two-wheelers on the ghat section,’’ the executive officer said. The APSRTC will ply additional services on the day as an alternative arrangement, he said adding that that parking space with security will be provided at Alipiri for twowheelers. He opined that it will ease traffic congestion on the ghat section as well as in Tirumala to some extent.
