New Delhi: North India is battling with extreme cold conditions with temperatures dropping to a new low everyday.
In Jammu the temperature has dropped to 4 degree Celsius and in Srinagar, the temperature is minus 3 degree Celsius. Shimla and Srinagar too are witnessing the first snowfall of the season. According to reports, the Jammu-Srinagar national highway has been closed due to the snowfall.
In the national capital however, there has been some respite from the fog. None of the flights have reportedly been delayed but over 20 trains are running late.
Light to moderate rains occurred at few places in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, even though minimum
temperatures stayed above normal levels in the two states. Also, dense fog, which had paralysed normal life in the two states during the past few days, lifted from many places, though it continued at some places, including Hisar, Ludhiana, Narnaul and Bhiwani, a MeT official said.
