BANGALORE: The Karnataka Information Commission has imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the Nageshachar, Administrative Officer and Public Information Officer (PIO), Office of the DCP, SouthEast Division for failing to provide information relating to an allegedly corrupt police inspector in Kadugodi Police Station.
Despite repeated attempts to get information about Mahmood Babu, Inspector, Kadugodi Police Station, Paramesh, the petitioner, did not get any details from the department. Paramesh had alleged that Inspector Mahmood Babu was corrupt and had asked the PIO for documents relating to the inspector. Karnataka Information Commission has ordered Ramaiah, PIO, Office of the Police Commissioner, to pay a compensation of Rs 2,000 to the petitioner for not furnishing any details.
