KOCHI: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday remanded the two accused in the online fraud case in police custody for five days.An amount of Rs 11. 14 lakh was allegedly misappropriated by the duo from the bank accounts of a city-based doctor.Magistrate S Santhosh Kumar remanded the eighth accused Liaquat Ali alias Ishtiaq Ali of Delhi and the ninth accused Rajabhadra of Kolkata.The police said that the two along with the other accused had withdrawn money from the doctor’s bank account using a fake SIM card.The charges levelled against them were under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420(cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465(forgery), 468(forgery for the purpose of cheating) and various sections under the IT Act.The police report said that the stolen money was transferred to 22 bank accounts in nine states and the money was withdrawn from 90 ATMs located across the country.
