KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday visited critic M K Sanu at his residence in Kochi.  He visited Sanu to congratulate him on winning the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award.  The Chief Minister who reached at 4.30 pm spent more than 15 minutes there. Excise Minister K Babu, mayor Tony Chammany, MLAs Hibi Eden and Loudy Luis accompanied him.  Oommen Chandy asked Sanu whether he would be attending the silver jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled for Tuesday.  However the latter said he would prefer avoiding long journeys due to health issues.  Sanu recalled about Oommen Chandy, while the latter was a student at Ernakulam Law College, used to visit him along with Vayalar Ravi.  Speaking to reporters, Oommen Chandy said that Kendra Sahitya Academy award was a deserving honour for Sanu. “Even when politically there were differences of opinion, his contributions in socio-cultural fields, education and politics are important,” the Chief Minister said. Sanu recalled his earlier association with Oommen Chandy and Vayalar Ravi. Oommen Chandy is the first Chief Minister to visit him at his residence, said Sanu.  “A K Antony as a Union Minister has come once. But he is the first Chief Minister who came here,” he said.  Earlier in the morning Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi visited Sanu at his residence.
