BELLARY: Expressing concern over illegal movement of iron ore despite a blanket ban issued on all mining activities by the Supreme Court in the district, Tapal Ganesh of TNR Mines has said the failure of officials of Department of Mines and Geology has led to the anarchy kind of situation.Speaking to media here on Monday, he said the officials only struggled to control illegal mining in revenue lands, but they were not concerned about the reserve forest lands being looted.“If the government had taken the first report of the Lokayukta seriously, this much destruction would not have happened in the district,” he said.He also said the negligence of officials led to looting of natural resources. Deputy commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas was doing the duty of the officials of the Department of Mines and Geology, he said and urged the chief secretary to initiate legal action against those responsible for illegal movement of iron ore. He also said there had been many changes in the GPS readings on the map issued to TNR Mines in 2006 and those on the map prepared during a joint survey in 2008-09.
