Pakistan does not seem to have any evidence to back its army's claim of having shot down an Indian spy drone. According to sources, the neighbouring country has not shared any information to substantiate their claims even as it summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad.
This information came following a meeting between the Indian High Commissioner and Pakistan Foreign Ministry officials on Thursday over India allegedly resorting to airspace violation.
Meanwhile, India has maintained that the drone is Chinese made and that it does not purchase drones from China.
Sources said that the drone might actually have belonged to the Rawalpindi police.
According to the sources, pressure groups in Pakistan and the ISI may be raking up the issue and repeatedly violating the ceasefire to disrupt NSA-level talks with India, which were agreed to at a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif. Sources added that the Prime Ministers of both countries have spoken and the talks would go on.
Intelligence sources claimed that the drone in the picture is a Chinese made DJI Phantom 3. Terming it as a bizarre claim by Pakistan, sources said that India would respond through appropriate diplomatic channels.
Pakistan Army had claimed it shot down the drone in the Bhimber area of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Pakistani Army has alleged the drone was being used for aerial photography near the Line of Control (LoC).
