KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has dismissed the bail applications of eight accused, including a CPM leader, in the Paravoor sex scandal. “Sex with young girls has become the luxury of the rich and hunt for virgins gained momentum. Fear of AIDS may be the reason to avoid sex workers and seek young girls,”  Justice K T Sankaran said. The court dismissed the bail applications of  Manaf, Pulikudy, Vengola, Manoj Gopi, Elavanthickal, Kattappana, Idukki, Manikantan of Kanyakumari, Mohammed Salih, Pulimoottil, Moovatupuzha, Unnikrishnan and Noby of Varkkala and Thomas Varghese of Mazhuvannoor.  It is seen in the case diary that the girl was presented to the accused as fresh and upto Rs1 lakh was demanded by those who pimped her. But one of the accused, who found the girl not fresh, paid only Rs 40,000. A perusal of case diary would reveal the height of sexual luxury some people enjoyed, the court said. The court further said that society should consider why such unfortunate incidents are on the rise. Young girls have a craze to act in  films, TV serials and other programmes and many are exploiting this, the court said.
