Plaints of garbage disposal to be probed

KOCHI: The Kochi Corporation has said that it will look into complaints of workers not clearing garbage timely, even as it called up councillors to be more responsive and alert the local body about to such issues.“There might be some problem due to the rains. Generally, garbage removal has been going on without much complaints,” claimed T K Ashraf, Chairman, Health Committee.“If there is any problem, the corporation will take corrective measures,” he claimed.  He said that there were sufficient number of vehicles and handcarts.Meanwhile, K J Antony, former councillor and secretary of Vadathazha Residents Associations said the situation was very bad and alleged that the garbage clearing staff visited homes only once in four days.He said Nazareth, Moolamkuzhy, Veli and Pandikudi were among the worst-affected areas.Councillor Antony Kureethara said, “Garbage clearance has been hit due to shortage of vehicles.”
