Plastic ban at Piravom

PITAVOM: The Piravom panchayat has decided to ban plastic products below 30 microns. The panchayat committee has decided to cancel the licenses of vendors who collect plastic below the said standard. The production, distribution and collection of the substandard plastic was also banned, said president Sabu K Jacob. The committee has also decided to impose a fine of Rs 10000 on those who throw plastic waste in public places. The panchayat committee has decided to entrust the health department to supervise the ban. A campaign will be arranged in the panchayat area with the participation of students on June 9,  said the president. The panchayat authorities will distribute 2000 cotton bags to students in the panchayat. The plastic waste from  the house premises will be collected by the panchayat cleaning workers.  The ward level sanitation committee will arrange a clean campaign in this week. They have also planned a source reduction to mosquitoes to contain rain related diseases.
