Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday wished a speedy recovery to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, following reports that the 88-year-old is receiving treatment for lung inflammation.
“Deeply concerned about the reports of the health of His Majesty @KingSalman bin Abdulaziz of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I join the people of India in wishing him a speedy and full recovery,” PM Modi said in an X post.
According to the Saudi state news agency, King Salman is undergoing treatment at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah after medical tests revealed he was suffering from lung inflammation. He will be treated with antibiotics until the inflammation subsides.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made reassuring comments about King Salman’s health during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, state TV reported.
Due to King Salman’s health issue, Crown Prince Mohammed, the de facto Saudi leader, postponed a visit to Japan that had been scheduled to begin on Monday, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said, according to a Reuters report.
The Saudi king underwent medical tests on Sunday at the royal clinics at Al Salam Palace due to a high temperature and joint pain.
