PM Raises Kashmir Issue in Party Meet, Says Newspapers Should Not be Banned
PM Modi reportedly raised the issue of ban on newspapers in Kashmir, while addressing BJP’s parliamentary meet on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly raised the issue of ban on newspapers in Kashmir, while addressing BJP's parliamentary meet on Tuesday.

He reportedly told the party leaders, "I have spoken to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and there should be no ban on anything."

Party insiders claimed that PM's reaction on Kashmir unrest came after first civil services examinations topper from the valley, Shah Faesal wrote a letter to Modi requesting him to intervene in to the whole issue.

Faesal said that PM must do more. "The prime minister, who has single-handedly transformed India's global image, should take upon himself the task of transforming India's image in Kashmir," he added.

Recently, Faesal slammed TV channels for "pitching one Kashmiri against another and breeding more alienation" after they showed him in the same frame as slain militant Burhan Wani.

Meanwhile, two days after banning the publication of newspapers, the J&K government went into damage-control mode and told the editors to resume the publications.

The government also transferred Budgam SSP Fayaz Ahmad Lone who reportedly ordered the raids on printing presses.
