New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, in-charge of party affairs in Tamil Nadu, on Sunday night met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and is understood to have discussed the situation in the state in the wake of DMK's decision to pull out of the UPA government.

There was no word on what transpired at the 40-minute meeting which comes in the backdrop of DMK decided to withdraw its ministers from the Manmohan Singh cabinet after seat-sharing between the two parties collapsed.

The split happened on Saturday after seat sharing talks between the two broke down ahead of Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu on April 13.

Congress sources said the party is not in a hurry to speak to the DMK as it withdrew its ministers from the Union Cabinet and decided to give issue-based support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government while the seat-sharing talks were still on. Congress wants the alliance to continue but is not willing to come under any pressure.
