THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: Around 50 business deals are expected to be signed at the DST - Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) technology expo that will be held at Taj Vivanta here on Thursday. This will be the first time this exposition will be held in Thiruvananthapuram. For this event, Technopark is joining in as a support partner. Other programme partners are FICCI, IC2 Institute (University of Texas) and Indo-US Science & Technology Forum. The DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme is a two-year nationwide project created to enhance the growth and development of India’s entrepreneurial economy. The programme is equally funded by the Department of Science and Technology and Lockheed Martin Corporation, and was developed with the assistance of the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum, IC2 Institute at the University of Texas and FICCI.The overall goal of the programme is to accelerate the launch of Indian early-stage technologies into the global marketplace. The programme features a competitive selection process. Selected participants may receive specialised training and funding opportunities. Top selectees will also be eligible to receive professional business development support to assist them in entering global markets.H K Mittal, Secretary-Technology Development Board and Advisor & Head-National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India; Jennifer Byrne, vice-president, Corporate Engineering & Technology, Lockheed Martin Corporation; Juan Miguel Sanchez Mangold, vice-president for research, University of Texas; and Rajiv Sharma, executive director, Indo-US Science & Technology Forum, will be present for the event in the city. Winners from the programme will display their technologies. Around 25 technologies are expected to be on display, including those from Thiruvananthapuram. Approximately 50 business deals will be signed at the event between programme winners and industry partners. This is the largest number of deals that will be signed at a single IIGP event since its inception. There will also be a formal release of ‘Compendium of Technologies.’
