Dehradun: The wait is over. On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri on Thursday, Priyanka, Katrina and Deepika will tie the nuptial knot during a Swayamvar in Uttarakhand.
The ceremony will take place at Pantwadi village in Jaunpur area of Tehri district, 100 km from Dehradun.
Hold your breath: Priyanka, Katrina and Deepika here are just the names of three goats.
A Swayamvar will be conducted on the occasion of Mahashivratri to marry off the three goats.
The three animals will choose their partners from a group of 15 male goats.
Swayamvar Procedure
To select partner, a goat will have to choose from a group of five animals who will be released in a ring with the goat. In whichever animal the goat will show her interest will be her partner.
Such a Swayamvar of animals is centuries old tradition in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand. There will be proper arrangement for 'wedding' of the animals as priest, baratis will take part in the ceremony.

Heena, turmeric, tilak will be applied on the goat 'brides'.
Apart from this, veterinary doctors from the animal husbandry department will be present on the wedding occasion to oversee the health of the brides.
People in large numbers have started coming to the village to take part in the wedding.
Speaking to Network 18, Animal Husbandry Officer BS Rawat said, "The purpose of this Swayamvar is to improve the breed of the animals. We will also teach the locals about the goat breeding techniques."
Rawat informed that the Swayamvar is being organised with the help of Green People Organisation.
The animal husbandry department will help the villagers to avail the goats and the vehicle to transport them.
"Such a ceremony helps the villagers to get quality breed with the help of cross breeding. The villagers are also advised to focus on goat breeding," said Rupesh Rai, who is associated with organising the Swayamvar.
