PUC lecturers demand a raise

BANGALORE: Karnataka State Pre-University College Lecturers Association will observe a fast, demanding the Government of Karnataka to equalise their salary of the sixth and fourth pay commission.They will stage their protest in front of DC office in every district of the state to give the memorandum to the authority concerned on September 5.Shakil Ahmad S K, working secretary of the association said in the press meet held at Press Club Bangalore, “We had urged the former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to heed to our demands.He had also given us assurance that he will do this within 40 days but it is 120 days now and there is no equalisation.” He further added that they also went to the education minister regarding this matter.But even there they couldn’t get any help.The association has appealed the government to increase their monthly basic salary in the new pay commission.They are demanding for `14,050 as a basis salary per month.They are currently getting `11,000
