PULICHINTALA (Guntur): The Pulichintala project site, Gollapeta, Kolluru and Pulichintala villages have been inundated due to the Krishna river floods.About 1,500 families living in the villages located on the banks of Krishna were evacuated on Thursday. Nagarjuna Sagar project is getting heavy inflows following lifting of 10 crest gates of Srisailam reservoir.Bellamkonda, Ketavaram, Chityala, Bodhanam and Chityala Tanda have been cut off with the rest of the district.District collector VN Vishnu asked villagers to move to safer places as the Nagarjuna Sagar project is likely to get 5 lakh cusecs of water.Tahsildars of 14 flood-prone mandals, including Amaravathi, Atchampeta, Kollipara, Repalle, Bhatiprolu and Kolluru mandals, have been put on high alert.The National Disaster Management team is closely monitoring the flood situation.Guntur RDO Senapati Delhirao is overseeing the relief and rehabilitation measures by camping in Bellamkonda. Additional joint collector K Sarada Devi also visited the flood affected villages in Bellamkonda mandal.Pulichintala project superintending engineer M Krishna Rao said there was no threat to the dam due to heavy inflows.But a coffer dam was washed away by flood water.Many villages in Dachepalli mandal have also faced flood threat as water has already entered the agricultural fields
