Jaipur: A week after the infamous Thuravad incident in which a woman was paraded half-naked on a donkey, a 40-year-old woman was on Sunday allegedly beaten up and paraded half-naked in a market area in Sikar district by her husband in the presence of their teenage daughter, police said.
Accused Kesar Singh (47), engaged in agricultural farming, was arrested after his wife filed an FIR with the Dantaramgarh police station, a senior police official said.
The victim, who has two daughters and a son, used to be allegedly manhandled by her drunkard husband, he said. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sikar and village Tehsildar were rushed to the village to take stock of the situation.
A state in-charge of International Human Rights Organisation (NGO) posted at Ajmer, Kiran Kanwar also accompanied the victim to the police station to register the FIR, the official said.
A case under various sections of IPC was registered against the accused, he said.
