Mumbai: Superstar Rajinikanth reportedly has a large fan following in Japan, and keeping this in mind, the makers of his latest film Kochadaiyaan will also make a Japanese version of it.
According to sources, the film's makers are trying to get the superstar along with his female lead Deepika Padukone conversant enough in the language, to be able to dub their own lines.
However, if the lead pair is unable to cope with the lines from a foreign language, the film will be dubbed, and released in Japan simultaneously.
The actor's films are habitually shown in Japan with Japanese subtitles, and his 1995 film Odoru Maharaj was apparently a big hit in Japan.
A source said, "For some reason the Japanese like to watch Rajini fighting and dancing on screen. Odoru Maharaj had that combination. Kochadaiyaan is also very similar."
When contacted, the film's producer Dr Murli Manohar, did not deny the news. He said, "I will let you know when things are locked."
Apart from Japanese, the film will also have Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions.
