The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will go in for a quick repair of the Prayagraj-Ayodhya Road (NH-330) in just seven days ahead of Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22.
The ministry has issued a tender for road signage and repair work worth Rs 33.50 lakh for around 50km stretch of the highway, connecting Prayagraj to Balrampur in the state. The bid will open on January 15 and the work has to be completed in seven days.
Among the repair work required is cantilever board repair and overhead board repair and installation of kilometre stones and tree plates.
The document, seen by News18, also mentions road marking, culvert name plates, retro-reflectorised traffic sign along with cautionary, mandatory and informational signs. The scope of work also includes reflective raised pavement markers, cat eye and road studs.
Last week, another bid was issued by the ministry for the same road for its general maintenance. The ministry will maintain various stretches of the road across its length. In total, the maintenance will be done on around 60km length. This bid will be opened by month-end.
The repair work is a part of the Union government’s preparation as the temple town gets decked up for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ at the Ram temple.
Speaking to News18, a ministry official said the repair work is being done as scores of devotees are expected to visit Ayodhya after the Ram Temple ceremony on January 22.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony along with other dignitaries and eminent personalities invited. Visitors will begin pouring into the temple town from January 23 when the mandir is opened to the public. However, people have been urged to visit the temple after January 26.
The celebrations in Ayodhya are expected to start from January 16 and the statue of Lord Ram will be installed on the throne in the sanctum sanctorum on January 18.
