MYSORE: It was a dream come true for K A Dhananjay when director Guruprasad, famous for Jaggesh starrer ‘Mata,’ promised him the lead role in his upcoming movie ‘Director’s Special’ to be released in March. Guruprasad, who was felicitated by Mysore Veerashaiva Sajjana Sangha at JK Ground on Sunday, told the media that he was impressed by Dhananjay’s acting skills, a theatre artiste attached to Rangayana, who played a small role in his debut ‘Mata’. I promised him a lead role in my next film then, he added. Interestingly, Dhananjay of Arasikere in Hassan district, is an engineering graduate. He completed his BE in Computer Science in Mysore but his inclination for theatre brought him to Rangayana. He started an amateur troupe ‘GPIER’. Guruprasad called upon the youths to contribute something to the society. We use public properties provided by someone, but never try to give anything in return. We should fulfil our social responsibility and not forget the persons behind what we are today, he added.Guruprasad recounted incidents form his childhood. My father was a priest and performed 600 marriage rituals, I myself performed 180 marriages. I struggled hard to complete BSc and used the money earned through priesthood to do MA, he added. Guruprasad said that the producer, music director and hero of ‘Director’s Special’ belong to the Veerashaiva community. It doesn’t mean that this movie is giving opportunity to a particular community or caste, he clarified.
