PUDUCHERRY: A search has been on for three more accused in the murder of real estate agent Thambidurai of Vaithikuppam here since Monday last. Senior superintendent of police (law and order) V J Chandran told reporters that the five accused in the case — Sugu a.k.a Sugumaran, Murthy, Sankar, Subbarayan and Aaali a.k.a Vinayam (all belonging to Vaithikuppam) — were already arrested by S Bascarane, inspector of police, Grand Bazaar Circle, on June 1.He said that the accused had admitted to the offence and had given confessional statements.Thambidurai was an influential leader of the fishermen community in the area and his refusal to accommodate a member in the local area association, responsible for disbursement of benefits of the government schemes, had led to the murder.For the murder at Karikalampakam on Wednesday, a former army man (not ex-air force man as reported earlier) was arrested but the murder weapon was yet to be traced.Regarding the bomb attack on a history-sheeter in a bar, Chandran said that the attackers would be nabbed soon.Asked about the spate of murders in the last couple of weeks, the SSP said that the police had already given ban orders to anti-social elements but despite such steps there was no let up in violent incidents.
