CHENNAI: Relatives ransacked a hospital alleging medical negligence, after a 13-year-old boy died of seizures at Thyagaraya Nagar on Sunday.Sources said S Vinod Kumar of Pillayar Koil Street in Kodambakkam was witnessing a festival at a local temple with his friends in the evening. All of a sudden, the boy, a class-8 student, suffered some kind of seizure and was rushed to a maternity hospital on North Usman Road. Due to the absence of a doctor, the boy could not be attended to immediately, sources claimed. Finally, a doctor arrived and he suggested that the boy be taken to another hospital. But, the boy died on the way to the next hospital.Relatives ransacked the hospital on North Usman Road, smashing windowpanes and furniture. While the hospital director lodged a complaint with the police, the boy’s father Shivaji also filed a complaint alleging that the hospital was responsible for his son’s death.
