Sarabjit's sister meets Pak Foreign Minister Khurshid Mohammad Kasuri in Delhi and pleads clemency for him.

New Delhi: The sister of Sarabjit Singh, who is on death row in Pakistan, met Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mohammad Kasuri in New Delhi on Sunday and pleaded clemency for him.

Dalbir Kaur, who met Kasuri while he was on a private visit, urged that Sarabjit, who has been sentenced to death in Pakistan on charges of spying and masterminding a series of bomb blasts in Lahore in 1990, be granted clemency.

Talking to reporters after a meeting with the Pakistani foreign minister, Dalbir said she cited the release from a Pakistan jail recently of Britain's Mirza Tahir Hussain, who had been sentenced to death in connection with a murder of a taxi driver in 1998.

"We requested the minister that if Tahir can be set free, so should be my brother," Dalbir said. Dalbir said the Pakistani Foreign Minister asked her to write a letter to the Pakistani High Commission and the letter would be forwarded to the President, Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Dalbir pleaded that her brother has suffered a case of mistaken identity in Pakistan.

During her meeting with Kasuri, who was here to attend the wedding of Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's daughter, Dalbir, accompanied by her daughters, also sought permission to visit her brother languishing in a Pakistani jail.
