SABARIMALA: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday dedicated ‘Saranasethu’, the Army Bailey bridge, at Sabarimala, set up with the objective of using a one-way exit system for the pilgrims after the darsan of Lord Ayyappa. The 490-metre long new pathway, including the 40-metre Bailey bridge which was built by the Chennai-based Madras Engineering Group of the Army, and the approach road by the Kerala Police Construction Corporation, was completed in a record time of 90 days.Finance Minister K M Mani, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan.Devaswom and Transport Minister V S Sivakumar, Additional Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, MLAs Raju Abraham and K Sivadasan Nair, Trvancore Devaswom Board president M Rajagopalan Nair, members K Sicily and K V Padmanabhan were present at the inaugural ceremony,The aggregate cost of new one-way system, except the Bailey bridge, was Rs 120 lakh. The Chief Minister complemented Major General Mitra of the MEG for the implementation of the project in a record period and Managing Director of Kerala Police Construction Corporation DGP Jalpangi.
