Security around the chief minister's camp office has been beefed up a day after ABVP workers stormed the office and managed to get inside the premises. The chief minister was present inside the camp office when the breach took place.
More policemen have been deployed as a part of strengthening the security. Concertina wires have also been laid across as a precautionary measure while all visitors are being screened thoroughly. Mediapersons, who were earlier present right outside the offfice, have now been asked to stay at a distance.
A team of police officials led by Hyderabad ACP (Law and Order) Amit Garg on Saturday visited the office and reviewed the security situation. Sources said Garg was briefed about the sequence of events by the personnel posted there.
"We will have more personnel round-the-clock besides taking a few more measures," Hyderabad police commissioner Anurag Sharma told Express.
Sources said Amit Garg has asked DCP (West zone) Stephen Ravindra, under whose jurisdiction the CM's camp office is placed, to ensure tight security and safety of the VVIPs.
Additional DGP (Intelligence) M Mahendar Reddy has been asked to submit a detailed report on Friday's security breach to the government soon.
The ABVP workers had arrived at the venue one by one while mingling with the mediapersons. Then they ran towards the camp office gate, and two jumped the gate. The CM's camp office has three security cordons. Theouter cordon was broken by the ABVP workers and they reached the third gate, which is manned by the AP Special Police (APSP) personnel along with city police.
