Lok Satta founder Jayaprakash Narayan insisted that the Centre and State government hold talks with the people to discuss the commissioning of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP), here on Saturday.

Speaking to Express on the sidelines of his address on politics to party members here, he said that it was the duty of the government to educate its people and to satisfy them before the project was proposed. “Some discipline and accommodation was needed on both sides, governments and protesters, in this regard,” he said.

Though he admitted that high priority should be accorded to the safety of nuclear plants following Fukushima crisis in Japan, Jayaprakash Narayan took the sides of former President APJ Abdul Kalam and other experts. “They are technocrats and they know better than us,” he said.

Full and fair rehabilitation of the fisherfolk should be carried out by the governments and it should be in such a way that their livelihood should go up better than now.

On the sea water being heated up after being used as coolant, Jayaprakash Narayan said that there were several processes in place to reuse the heat energy in the water by employing modern technologies to use. “There should be some marine regulatory organisations which I hope will act towards the protection of marine life,” he added.

Commenting on the attack on US Consulate here, he termed it as ‘cutting off the nose to spite the face’. He also advise the Muslim brotherhood not to go after the entire United States while the mischief was carried out by a private individual.

Earlier, he criticised the maker of “The Innocence of Muslims” for  abuse of freedom of speech and expression. “Such freedom should not hurt the sensitivity of any religion, language or community. It should be avoided at all costs,”  he said.
