New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Shaktikanta Das was on Friday appointed as the new Economic Affairs Secretary, while Hasmukh Adhia will replace him as Revenue Secretary as part of a major top-level bureaucratic reshuffle by the government.
These new names were approved on Friday by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Das, a 1980 batch Tamil Nadu cadre officer, was holding the post of Revenue Secretary and will assume charge after the retirement of current Economic Affairs Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on August 31 2015.
Adhia, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, was Financial Services Secretary and will replace Das as the Revenue Secretary.
Anjuly Chib Duggal, a 1981 batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, has been appointed as the new Financial Services Secretary.
Tapan Ray, a 1982 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, will replace Duggal as Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
